It keeps on kicking me down

It's been quite a while for a post because I really have no more to say than the usual, but I figured I'd just say it anyway, as I take a brief break from grading two-week-old projects.

I'm entirely fed up with my job.  Every single aspect of it.  The students' apathy drives me bonkers, but the thing that really makes me contemplate self harm (Not really, but if I were a weaker person, then maybe.) is the administration.

If the teachers are scrutinized for lack of planning and/or failure to clarify expectations, why isn't the same true for those in charge?  If I handed my students an assignment with no details of what I want them to do, then fail them for failure to meet the expectations I had in my head, I would be be the one to blame.  So how is it that the higher ups can demand things from me, with little to no guidance, and then hem and haw when I complete them differently than what they expected?

Another thing that gets me fired up (not in a good way) is when those who lead and are expected to be good examples get passive aggressive.  If there's an issue, don't beat around the bush by issuing blanket statements about how awesome a few people are without saying what makes those people awesome and making those who aren't meeting your (unannounced) expectations feel like crap.  Why don't you clarify what you want instead of being a douchebag about it?  I hate passive-aggressiveness, but I can be the most passive aggressive person if that's the game you want to play.

Things like those mentioned above make me hate going to work every day.  Walking into that building every day puts me immediately in a bad mood.  Just mentioning the job to me outside of work instantly makes me angry.

People who are trying their best to educate our children shouldn't feel like this, but I do.  And I hate it.

I know what you mean about admin. Where do they get these people and how are they able to not meet the same expectations they demand of others? BAH!!

Yeah, you've pretty much nailed it. Our system is desperately broken.

Sorry to hear that you hate going to work every day. I don't have any clue what it's like to be a teacher but I know how painful it can be to hate your job. I was there and it literally sucks the life out of you. I hope you can find some measure of peace at your current job or find something else that won't stress you out someday. Hang in there!
