During my first block today, the principal walked in with about 3-4 guests from outside of the school. I'm guessing they were school heads from another country. They walked into a packed class just as I was finished giving notes and stood along a wall (making the kids on that side of the room completely uncomfortable). They took pictures of my board, which had *gasp* verb conjugations on it. (I don't care what anyone says. The kids can't USE the verbs in a meaningful way if they can't change them correctly.) I then instructed the class to turn to their partners and ask something or the other. The best way to get people out of your classroom? Speak in Spanish! Worked like a charm.
Maybe it's just me, but I'm fine with visitors as long as they greet me when they walk in my door! No greeting makes it an uncomfortable situation, but otherwise I just continue to do whatever the hell I planned on doing and don't care what visitors think.

That happened to me a long time ago. I stopped my lesson and said "I think these students would like to know who you are." The Principal got all red and introduced herself and her guests and then made a quick retreat. She never again brought visitors to my room.
I hate that when it happens too. It is so uncomfortable. I'm glad that you got them out!
