Everything's closing in...

...including Hurricane Irene and the start of the new school year.

I thought I would have time to do everything this last week, including some clothes shopping, going to the hairdresser, planning, and one last long bike ride before all my free time on the weekend is gone.  But none of that has happened, and I'm not sure when any of it will get done.

Hairdresser? Maybe I'll go in super early tomorrow and hope they'll take me.  I usually make an appointment, but I totally dropped the ball.

Bike ride? Not gonna happen this weekend if Irene blows her way into town, which is definitely expected at this point.

Clothes shopping? Probably not gonna happen.  I need to lose weight anyways, and there's no sense in buying clothes that'll (hopefully) be too big soon.

Planning? Hahahahaha.  Still haven't heard from my director about books.  Two of my three preps will supposedly have new books this year.  We'll be using a completely new series that I know nothing about.  Their website is only helpful to a point, but I have no idea what the kids will have available to them, nor do I have access to all of the resources.  This is so frustrating!

Thankfully, I only have one real day with the kids next week.  I think I'll just do some fun activities with them that day, since we're not allowed to give them textbooks or do any "real" work with them.

I'm just really annoyed that I have no syllabus at this point for 4 of my 5 classes, and that drives me nuts!  I'm as flexible as the next guy, but really it's just not fair.

Feeling the same way you do, except that I do have a hair appointment! We have two days with students, no workbooks and no support from our central admin about getting them. I sent about 10 e-mails to order them last year, but somehow SOMEONE dropped the ball and now the teachers have to pay. Typical, eh? I would hate to have no syllabus. I did change my grading system and am feeling quite insecure about that.
