Livid

Well, the first week is over.  I might finally be over the first two (PD) days.  Maybe not. I'm just so sick of the waste of time that we call PD.  Nothing gets accomplished, all major issues get brushed off or swept under the rug, and everything  lacks organization.  It's just so frustrating.

My biggest issue? WE HAVE NO CURRICULUM!  That's right.  We have no curriculum.  And our boss doesn't seem to care!  In a nutshell, we were told to "just follow the book for now."  Yes, you read that right.  The problem with that (besides the obvious)? The ordered books haven't come in yet!  And not enough books were ordered!  And our boss doesn't seem to care!

I am livid.  I've actually had to avoid talking to administrators because I might say something that gets me in trouble (or puts me on the radar) (Our department boss is also a bigwig in the district with a lot of pull and connections throughout the state.).  My department members have had to keep me under control.  I've never been this angry about school before.

Come Tuesday morning, I have no idea what I'm supposed to tell my students.  "Hey, I don't know what we're going to do this year because no one thought it was important to put together a curriculum or to order books on time.  So we're just going to wing it from here until this situation gets straightened out.  Hopefully it'll be straightened out before June."

To be a bit positive, I will say that I'm now glad my student teacher from last year was hired full time this year.  I really like her, and I'm glad to be working with her.  Also, I think most of my classes will be enjoyable this year (for now, at least).

I'm trying to be positive, but it's been hard so far.  Things can only go up from here, right?

NUTS. LOCO. I don't understand at all what they expect us to do with students and a subject when we're lacking books, curriculum and ANY KIND OF SUPPORT. We are still scrambling to get our workbooks; the district head is finally starting to respond--after I enlisted the other HS department chairs to ride his ass also.
