We had a department meeting today for the first time since about January. (Our school's been using meeting time for other purposes this year.) As expected, we talked about nothing serious and continued to side-step our issues (i.e. the lack of curriculum). But really? We have about 4 weeks left (1 of those involves state testing, one involves giving seniors their final exams, and one involves giving everyone else their final exams), so really what's the point of talking curriculum? Our department leader is retiring this June, so what is there to be said at this point? We're going to be royally screwed again next year, if we have jobs. The nonchalance is driving me bonkers!
To add to the ridiculousness, we've been informed that we'll be observed at some point in the next few weeks. Yes, observe us the last three weeks of school. I bet you'll find great teaching there. (Does anyone actually teach anything new in the last three weeks of school? Especially with no curriculum?) Why don't we just sweep those under the rug too?
This is just insane.

It's ALL nuts. I don't understand why observations happen so late or why there would be no curriculum. Ridiculous. I got observed twice fairly early this year, but still have no eval. Weird.
We, too, are being observed in the last 2 weeks of school. Talk about insane!
