Swim teacher evaluation

I took a swim class today at my gym with my husband.  Neither of us had ever taken swim lessons before, and we'd been talking about maybe taking a couple of classes, when out of nowhere or gym decided it would give an introductory free swim lesson . (Turns out it was just one trainer.  The gym doesn't generally offer swim lessons.)  It was an interesting experience.  I found out that a) I'm a better swimmer than I thought, even for someone who's never been taught to swim, and b) my husband is a terrible swimmer.  He had a hard time just floating.  It was slightly comical, but he never gave up, which is good.

Maybe it's the teacher in me, but I couldn't resist critiquing the swim instructor the whole time we were there.  First, there's the fact that she clearly had no plan beyond "Swim a couple of laps to get warmed up." (Which again was interesting when my husband was like, "Um... a lap?")  After we (I) did our (my) lap, she started to just deal with us individually.  There were two other students in the class, so it was hard for her to monitor four people swimming at different times.  She would tell one of us to swim or do some swim drill, then she would work with the next person, then she would say, "I didn't actually get to see you.  Can you do it again?"  I can't imagine how much more scattered she would have been if she'd had even just one more student in there.  Then because my husband was having such a hard time, she decided she needed to get into the pool, but had to go out to the locker room to get her towel.  What swim instructor doesn't come fully prepared to hop in the pool with his/her students?  Anyways, it was an interesting experience.  I just hated leaving the gym with wet hair on a 50 degree day.

Back to work tomorrow. Fun fun.  At least we have a three-day weekend and only a four-day week.  Nothing planned yet, but any day off sounds great to me!

Have a wonderful week!

We do have a better idea about how to plan, don't we? That swim scenario would have driven me crazy. I like things ORGANIZED!! We have a four day week this week, yay!
