Day 11

Well, for some reason today seemed to fly by. That's a good thing. The only thing that would make it better is if it hadn't been pouring when I was on my way home!

Must say a big thanks to Señora Huertero (see link at right) for the Pásale idea. It worked really well with all of my classes to do a quick review of their new vocabulary. I was completely surprised that the 3CPs enjoyed it way more than the 2CPs. I think it's because it was something they hadn't done before more than anything else. Only one of my 2CP classes got to play it though because we spent most of the period correcting and reviewing their quizzes (e-->ie stem-changing verbs) that we ran out of time. I think that many of them get it, they're just also struggling with remembering the endings they learned many months ago in Spanish 1 (for those who actually took Spanish 1). I'll just have to go slower with them, obviously. I wish I could teach them all individually (one kid came after school yesterday and in 5 minutes, no joke, he got them down. He was even explaining many of the rules to the other students and actually applying them today in class.), but that's impossible in the 50ish minutes we have per day. How nice would that be though?

I guess I should try to grade some of these 3 other quizzes I have stacked up here. Where's my TA???

EDIT: Just popped back into my head: Today during a fire drill after we had gotten the kids outside (I had a free period, but I was helping some of the new teachers with procedures), one boy walks up to his English teacher (a young, attractive woman) and says, "Did you mark me here, Cutie?" I was actually speechless for a few minutes. Then I turned to another teacher that was with me and asked, "Did he just call her 'cutie'??" "Yea, so disrespectful," replied the other teacher. The "victim" here just shooed the boy away and didn't say a thing. Then another boy came and said something a little milder to her (I honestly don't remember, I just remember the shock and the fact that it wasn't as bad as "cutie".), and she said nothing. I just couldn't believe it. So inappropriate.
