Newbie meet-n-greet

I was invited to attend a breakfast this morning for new teachers to meet their mentors for the upcoming school year. (I get to mentor two people again this year.) It took me back to 4 years ago when I was there as a newbie. I still felt like one of the youngest people in the room today, although there looked like a few that were younger than me. With the new members of my department, I am now the second youngest again. Fun fun. One of my mentees is coming from teaching at the university level, so she's a little intimidated by dealing with high school students. The other mentee I don't know much about because she didn't really talk to me, even though I tried to engage her in conversation! Hopefully she'll warm up soon. lol Overall, the breakfast went well, and the speech givers were relevant and funny, so 3 hours didn't seem too long.

I'm actually looking forward to school starting, more than I have before. I'm just ready to get back into what I do and only hope to continue to get better at what I do. Besides, I'm so bored at home! (I know. In a couple of weeks I'm going to be wishing it were summer again!)

We start on Monday with all staff. It's all staff again on Tuesday, then on Wednesday and Thursday the kiddos show up. Finally, we get Friday and Monday off for the Labor Day weekend, so that's nice. Hopefully I won't wake up ridiculously early on Sunday with my pre-school jitters. (I already did that this morning. So unnecessary.) Does anyone else wake up ridiculously early with pre-school jitters?

I was bored at home in July--but now I'm just fine staying home! boo hoo I get all adjusted to a lazy schedule and now I have to go back. I don't wake up early because I don't sleep much before school starts. I'm having too many nightmares...
